As Tuesday 12th March marked the 2nd day of Ramadan, DAQVAH Charity Foundation as part of its every year Ramadan feeding program, donated bags of rice, bundles of water and cash to Muslims in Mayeama and Cimbeck communities. This donation was made successful through its Empty Bowl Challenge donors who donated at least Le 40 to feed a fasting person.

Introducing the team to the beneficiaries, Ayoub Joaque who is the focal person for the foundation asked the people of Mayeama community if they could remember DAQVAH of which the answer was affirmative.

He continued that this was not the first time the Mayeama community was benefiting from the charity work of the foundation as the foundation was there two years ago on another distribution.

Speaking on behalf of the foundation, the Executive and Finance Director, Mariatu Sedik Kamara started by thanking Allah for making it possible to witness Ramadan and reaching the communities.

She continued saying that, the foundation has been working in Port Loko District for so many years in areas of Education, Health, Masjid, Clothing and Food distribution to the less privileged.

She added that, the foundation was in the communities to distribute rice, water and cash to Muslims so that they will use them to observe their fast with ease. She called on the beneficiaries to continue to pray for those that are donating towards the work of Allah as the resources the foundation is using is not coming from donor NGOs but from well meaning Muslims so that they will help humanity.

Thanking the team for the donations, the town Imam Pa Baimba Turay thanked Allah for taking the team safe to their communities.

He continued that it was indeed a blessing for them to benefit from such donations considering the number of communities in the chiefdom and the District as a whole.

“This donation comes at a time we were wondering how we will get food to break their fast. To give us bags of rice water and money is life saving,” he further stated. He thanked all those that contributed towards this great help and prayed that Allah would continue to bless them and that they reap the benefits of the month of Ramadan.

Speaking on behalf of other beneficiaries, Isata Kargbo thanked the foundation for the gift stating that most of the people in their community were worried on how they will get food to observe this holy month but with this donation, most people who were contemplating on fasting will join them now as there was hope already.

She called on her colleagues to continue to pray for the foundation and all those that contributed towards the donation so that Allah will continue to provide for them and also gain the blessings of this holy month.

The distribution climaxed with prayers for all those that donated towards the distribution and the foundation.
