DAQVAH Charity Foundation successfully concluded a two-day Mid-Year Staff Retreat held at Deep-Eye Water from the 20th to the 21st of July, 2024. The retreat hosted 10 team members, including senior management and staff.

During the official opening of the retreat, Mariatu Sedik Kamara, the Executive and Finance Director, emphasized the retreat’s purpose which includes advancing the foundation’s mission by encouraging the team to increase their fundraising efforts and step out of their comfort zones, apply lessons learned in the first half of the year, and commit themselves to progress in the remaining months.

Day 1 involved a reflection with unit heads who provided updates on activities implemented from December 2023 to May 2024. They discussed the successes achieved, the impacts created, and the challenges faced. As a team, they analyzed, proposed, and documented the way forward and next steps.

Day 2 focused on planning for the remaining six months. The various units outlined their objectives and activities to be implemented, highlighted timelines and responsibilities. Key activities and projects planned include the Breastfeeding Project, Feed the Needy, completion of the DAQVAH Islamic Academy, the DAQVAH Family Fun-fair Event, the School Pack Project, and organizing the 9th DAQVAH Annual Fundraising Dinner and Awards.

“I want to thank you all for being here these two days. It has not been easy, but we ensured that our goal for coming here was achieved. I pray that as we continue this fiscal year, may Allah grant us abundant success,” the Executive and Finance Director stated in her closing remarks.

The retreat concluded with supplications and snapshots of team members.
