The DAQVAH Charity Foundation has successfully implemented its School Pack Project 2024 on December 10th distributing 100bags to pupils of the DAQVAH Islamic Academy and a newly established Primary School in the Port Loko District. The first distribution took place at Mabain Village, BKM Chiefdom, Port Loko District, drawing the presence of pupils, parents, chiefs, religious leaders and head teachers from various schools and communities, all eager to witness the foundation’s continued commitment to education.

The District Coordinator, Ayoub Joaque welcomed and introduced the team from Freetown. Alhaji Abdul Rahman Jalloh, the Founder and CEO of DAQVAH, addressed the gathering, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to fulfill the foundation’s promise despite fundraising challenges that delayed the implementation, usually held in September. “Alhamdulillah, we are here today to fulfill our commitment of the School Pack Project which includes the distribution of customized school bags, uniforms, socks, shoes, pencils, pens, erasers, sharpeners, rulers and books,” he stated. He emphasized the foundation’s understanding of the financial difficulties faced by families, especially in the provinces, and the importance of ensuring that children have the resources to feel confident and motivated in school. He concluded by saying, “The foundation does not need thanks from you, but only needs your prayers. Because with your prayers, Allah will continue to bless our members and donors to support our activities.”

Speaking on behalf of the head teachers, Abass Solomon Bangura, head teacher of DEC Makoba Maconteh Chiefdom, expressed his gratitude for the initiative and the continued support from DAQVAH. He recalled the foundation’s previous assistance with mathematical sets for his National Primary School Examination pupils, reinforcing that education is the key to success and encouraging pupils to focus on their studies.

Amidu David Kamara, a teacher at Kankaylay Islamic Primary School Malal Conteh, also praised the foundation’s efforts. He expressed his amazement and excitement, urging DAQVAH to extend their support to other schools in the district that are in need.

Another distribution of school packs to 53 pupils was done at Rogbaray Ka Bangura. Speaking on behalf of the community people, Pa Abdul Karim Bangura thanked DAQVAH for extending their support to his community stressing that over 80% of the children do not have school bags but use plastics and some don’t even have plastics.

“As you can see, our school building is still incomplete and we don’t have a single furniture as children sit on mud blocks. We kindly ask that you support us to have furniture and help us complete our school building,” he pleaded.

The event concluded with photo sessions and numerous prayers for the foundation and its members, marking a day filled with joy and gratitude.
