DAQVAH Charity Foundation, an Islamic relief and development foundation has distributed over 500 packs of food, water, and drinks to nine mosques across Freetown in observation of Arafat Day. The event took place on June 5th, coinciding with the Arafat day, a time when Muslims around the world who are not present at Arafat engage in fasting, prayers and acts of charity.
The foundation’s humanitarian outreach saw the distribution of packaged food, drinks and water to the following mosques: Rawdon Street Masjid, Jui Connex Masjid, Deep-Eye Water Masjid, Pyke Street Prison Masjid, Malama Thomas Street Masjid, Eastern Police Masjid, Markaz Allentown, FBC Masjid, and IPAM Masjid.

The foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Alhaji Abdul Rahman Jalloh emphasized that the initiative aims to bring relief and joy to worshippers and their families during this sacred day. “Today’s distribution underscores our commitment to serving the Muslim community in Freetown, and Sierra Leone,” said the CEO. “We believe that acts of charity, especially on Arafat Day, strengthens bonds of brotherhood and provide uncountable blessings to those fasting andthose who donated,” he added. He concluded by asking the beneficiaries to make Dua for the hundreds of Muslims who donated to make the distribution successful.

The DAQVAH teams were warmly received by various Masjids and Imams, who expressed gratitude for DAQVAH’s continued efforts in uplifting the community’s well-being. Many worshippers appreciated the gesture, viewing it as a reminder of the importance of charity and compassion in Islamic teachings.
As the foundation continues its mission of service, it hopes to expand its outreach to more communities and further promote the values of charity, unity, and social responsibility among Muslims in Sierra Leone.
