As part of the foundation’s efforts in supporting the government’s free quality education program and to serve humanity, the DAQVAH Charity Foundation has on Thursday the 12th November 2020 distributed school bags, shoes, socks, books, pens and other educational materials to 32 vulnerable pupils from 4 primary schools in the Makonteh Chiefdom, Port Loko District.

In his welcome address, the Regent Paramount Chief of the Chiefdom, Pa Alimamy Kai Conteh welcomed the team in his Chiefdom and prayed for Allah’s continious guidance and protection. He continued that since his reign as Regent Paramount Chief, DAQVAH is the very first organization to give such educational support to vulnerable children in his Chiefdom. He called on the foundation to always remember his Chiefdom as it is one of the most deprived Chiefdoms in the country.

The Ward Councillor, who also doubles as the Education Committee Chairman of the Port Loko District Council, Morlai Sesay thanked the foundation for boosting education in his ward, stating that what the foundation has done will go a long way in reducing the suffering of parents as most parents are still finding it very difficult to buy uniforms for their children not to talk of school bags and shoes.

He appealed to the foundation to continue the good work they have been doing in the Chiefdom.

In his keynote address to stakeholders and beneficiaries, the CEO of the foundation, Alhaji Abdul Rahman Jalloh gave a brief background of the foundation and informed the gathering of the past projects the foundation had implemented in the Chiefdom.

He continued that, the donation is to help children look cool in school and to reduce the pressure from parents to provide for their children looking at the present economic sufferings of parents in the country due to Covid-19.

He informed the gathering that it was just the first set of distribution targeting 4 schools in the Chiefdom and that the remaining 30 pupils already mapped from other 3 schools in the Chiefdom will benefit soon.

He assured the people of Maconteh chiefdom that his foundation is always ready to work in Maconteh and assured of the completion of all intending projects in the Chiefdom.

Nmah Suma from Rokoya village is one of the parents whose child benefited from the donation, she thanked the foundation for its intervention and pray that Allah continue to provide for the donors so that the good work will extend to other children in the Chiefdom. “Had it not been your intervention, my daughter would have ended the whole academic year without school bag and uniforms as I cannot afford it. I have to struggle to put food on the table as I am a single parent with 6 children,” she concluded.

The presentation of materials to beneficiaries was done by the Regent Paramount Chief, the ward councillor and the Executive director of the foundation, Mariatu Sedik Kamara.

The occasion was climaxed with duahs from stakeholders, parents and beneficiaries.
