In a country still healing from the scars of war and public health crises, the story of widows in Sierra Leone remains one of silent struggle and resilience. Years of civil war, followed by the devastating Ebola outbreak and the global coronavirus pandemic, have left thousands of women widowed, many of them solely responsible for the care and survival of their children. For these women, life has often meant hardship, uncertainty, and limited opportunities.

It is against this backdrop that DAQVAH Charity Foundation made Widow Support as a key area of intervention. Through the construction of a Widow Training Centre and the provision of sewing machines, DAQVAH is not merely offering charity, it is investing in empowerment.
The Widow Training Center stands as a symbol of renewal. Within its walls, widows are trained in tailoring and sewing, practical skills that enable them to earn a living, regain confidence, and rebuild their lives. The sewing machines provided are more than tools; they are instruments of independence, allowing these women to support themselves and provide for their children with honor and self-reliance.
As the tailoring machines hum in the training centre and new garments are stitched together, so too are futures being reshaped. Through this project, DAQVAH Charity Foundation continues to live out its commitment to uplifting the vulnerable, ensuring that widows are not left behind, but are empowered to stand, provide, and hope again.
