DAQVAH Ends a 3-Day Annual Staff Retreat 2023

DAQVAH Charity Foundation has successfully ended a three-day Annual Staff Retreat, which was held at Javohey House, IMATT from the 21st – 23rd December, 2023. The retreat hosted 13 team members composed of senior management and staff.

Alhaji Abdul Rahman Jalloh, the CEO and founder during the official opening of the retreat said the retreat was to work toward pushing the work of the foundation forward by ensuring that the team is determined to increase on its fundraising effort, move out of their comfort zone, take lessons learnt in 2023 and make commitment for progress in 2024. He concluded by motivating staff to continue the good work, as the team has set a record breaking on its fundraising efforts in 2023.

Day 1 marked a reflection, where Unit heads gave updates on activities implemented for the whole year (Dec 2022 -November 2023), the successes or impacts created and the challenges encountered during implementation. Together as a team, way forward and next steps were analyzed, proposed and documented.

Day 2 marked a capacity building session where policies were reviewed and key topics related to fundraising such as persuasion skills were taught.

The evening of day 2 marked a staff social evening where staff had games, performances and a lot of fun.

Day 3 was all about planning for 2024. As a way to strategically plan for 2024 fiscal year, the various units set out and read their objectives and activities to be implemented, highlighting timelines and persons’ responsible. Key among the activities and projects planned are the Ramadan Feeding Project, Feed the Needy, Completion of the DAQVAH Islamic Academy, well construction at Mabain, the DAQVAH Family Fun-fair Event, the School Pack Project, Mobile Health Clinic, Zakat collection, Arafat Feeding program, Qurbani and organizing of the 9th DAQVAH Annual Fundraising Dinner.

As the foundation has been organising the weekly Sadaqah Quote competition, the rules were reviewed to further promote healthy competition. Additionally, way forward on pending projects such as the National Islamic Park, the lands acquired by the foundation and the Widow project were developed.

“I want to thank you all for been here these three days as it has not been easy but we ensured that our goal for coming here was achieved. I pray that as we start this fiscal year, may Allah grant us abundant success.” the CEO on his closing statement.

The retreat ended with supplications and snapshots of team members.
