As part of its annual Ramadan feeding project, the DAQVAH Charity Foundation has supported 30 household in Masheka community, Kayimbor section, Maconteh Chiefdom, in Port Loko District with bags of rice, water, and cash.

The foundation’s focal person in Port Loko District, Ayoub Joaque introduced the team to the community, highlighting that DAQVAH has been active in the district, specifically in Maconteh Chiefdom, for the past nine years. Their key interventions included establishing the DAQVAH Islamic Academy, supporting the construction of the masjid in Masheka community, the Ramadan feeding program, the Ramadan clothing project, providing a hand-dug well in Rokoya community, offering free medical support, and launching the school pack project amongst others.

In his statement, the CEO of DAQVAH, Alhaji Abdul Rahman Jalloh, informed the beneficiaries that this support is part of DAQVAH’s Annual efforts to assist vulnerable Muslims struggling to obtain food during the blessed month of Ramadan. He expressed that the foundation’s aim is to ensure beneficiaries have good food to break their fast. He mentioned that similar support would have been extended to other communities, but due to budget constraints, some communities were left out this year. He informed them that the support is made possible through members donation and other charitable organizations like ‘Building Our Akhira’. He encouraged the beneficiaries to pray for those donors so that Allah will continue to bless them, as that is the only thing they seek in return.

The Imam of Masheka community, Pa Morlai Kamara, thanked the foundation for their timely support, which he said came at a crucial moment for his community. He noted that many were contemplating whether they could observe fasting due to food constraints, but this support has alleviated those concerns.

Speaking on behalf of the women, N’Mah Sumah, the chiefdom chairlady of Maconteh Chiefdom, expressed gratitude to the foundation and its supporters. She mentioned that the women were in a state of confusion about how to cope with the fasting period as their husbands were struggling to provide. “With the support from DAQVAH, the stress of obtaining food for breaking the fast has been relieved” she said and concluded by praying for Allah to continue providing for those supporting DAQVAH’s projects.

Lawrence AB Tholley, representing the teachers of the DAQVAH Islamic Academy, also expressed his appreciation. He mentioned that some teachers had not planned to observe fasting due to lack of resources, but with the foundation’s support, they can now fast until the end of Ramadan. He concluded by asking Allah to bless all those who supported the project.

The distribution event ended with prayers for all who contributed to the success of the project.
