To provide learning materials to needy and vulnerable pupils, is an activity that falls under one of DAQVAH’s main areas of intervention, which is Education Support. It is for this reason that the DAQVAH Charity Foundation have been distributing school materials to the needy pupils for the past seven years.

On the 12th of November 2023, DAQVAH distributed uniforms, books, pens, pencils and bags to over 80 vulnerable pupils from 2 schools in the Maconteh Chiefdom, Portloko District.

The team was welcomed by parents and pupils of seven villages who converged at the DAQVAH Islamic Academy. The DAQVAH Focal Person, Ayoub Joaque, introduced the team to the community people.

Alhaji Abdul Rahman Jalloh, DAQVAH’s CEO and Founder started by reminding the people of the different project the foundation have been undertaken in the Port Loko District, including the School Pack Project which is now implemented for the 5th time within the district. He said that part of the school pack package which normally included shoes, vest, socks and bags were missing due to limited funds raised. “As a foundation, we will continue to ask our members to donate so that we have customised bags which will be distributed to the pupils ones they are available. However, the team decided to distribute these materials to help especially the newly enrolled pupils who are without uniforms, books etc,” the CEO noted. He concluded by thanking the teachers for their relentless efforts and consider the school lucky to have such qualified teachers as volunteers.

In his said, Mr. Kanu the Principal of DAQVAH Islamic Academy said, “I believe in impacting knowledge on pupils as it is said in the Quran, when you instill knowledge on someone you will be rewarded this world and the hereafter.” He further cautioned the parents to take education seriously for the development of the Mabain community and its surroundings.

Ambassador Totti Fofanah, said that the Mabain community fortunate to have DAQVAH supporting them as he has went to many schools where the children are sitting on the floor to write. He said that DAQVAH is constructing a school for the community and has already provided the children with furniture.” Adding that DAQVAH on an annual basis support their children with school materials including uniform, books, pens, rulers and even bags. “This is a laudable venture. I want all parents to appreciate this and encourage your children to go to school. Some of you prefer taking your children to the farm than preparing them for school.

Once again we thank DAQVAH for all the work they are doing within the Port Loko District,” Councillor Totti Fofanah concluded.

The distribution was further done to primary school pupils of the Sierra Leone Muslim Brotherhood, where pupils benefited from bags, books, pens, etc.
The communities appreciated such distribution and prayed for the continued success of the foundation.
