
Day Two of the DAQVAH Charity Foundation’s Annual Retreat unfolded with renewed energy and purpose, beginning at dawn with the offering of Fajr sorlah. The spiritual atmosphere was further enriched by inspirational advice from Umar Osaio Kamara, the Foundation’s Data and Research Coordinator, who spoke on the importance of Team Work. He emphasized key features such as sharing roles and responsibilities, celebrating collective wins, fostering communication, openness to feedback, and encouraging team members to thrive together.
Session Highlights

– Session One – Membership Survey Report
The day’s first session reviewed findings from the previous membership survey. Subscribers shared their perspectives on the Foundation’s work in areas of transparency, accountability, fundraising ideas, business initiatives, and staff performance. The report provided valuable insights into how DAQVAH is perceived and where improvements can be made.
– Session Two – Sustaining Membership

Led by Executive Finance Director, Mariatu Sedik Kamara. This session explored strategies for retaining and sustaining members. Discussions centered on scouting for new members, developing skills to retain them, converting members into donors, and boosting individual fundraising. Mariatu’s practical ideas, complemented by contributions from team members, sparked lively engagement.
– Session Three – Fundraising Innovations
Heads of units presented innovative fundraising ideas for the upcoming fiscal year. The brainstorming session focused on creative approaches to strengthen DAQVAH’s financial base for 2026, ensuring sustainability and growth.

– Session Four – Unit Objectives and 2026 Goals
A comprehensive review of unit objectives was conducted, followed by the setting of ambitious goals for 2026. These included outreach calling and collection, enhanced fundraising, capacity building, and membership expansion.
– Session Five – DAQVAH Schools Update
Teachers from DAQVAH Islamic Academy, both Primary and Secondary Schools provided updates on the schools’ operations. They highlighted achievements, ongoing challenges, and pressing needs, underscoring the Foundation’s commitment to education as a pillar of community development.
– Session Six – Pending Projects and Business Discussions

The final session examined pending projects and future ventures, including plans for the National Islamic Park, waterwell construction, land development, and cattle rearing initiatives. These projects reflect DAQVAH’s vision of combining faith-driven service with sustainable community impact.
Day Two concluded successfully, marked by unity, strategic planning, and a shared commitment to advancing DAQVAH’s mission. The retreat continues to serve as a platform for reflection, innovation, and collective action toward building a stronger foundation for the future.
